Bloody Hell (2020) is a fast-paced chaotic film that flew so far under the radar that I never even heard the name until yesterday. If I had the pleasure of watching this when it was released in 2020, it would have been my favorite movie during the lockdown.
The story begins with army vet Rex and a scene of violent vigilante justice during a bank robbery. After some jail time and being ready to escape this newly developed notoriety - Rex decides to move to Finland.
Why Finland? Because he shot a spitball and that's where he landed.
The acting performances of the entire cast are top notch from beginning to end. From the Fight Club-esque arguments between Rex and his subconscious, the meek and eager daughter planning her escape, and the entire family trying to satisfy a cannibalistic urge.
Bloody Hell is a breath of fresh air in the action-based revenge horror sphere. This film delivers everything I'm looking for in a movie that's going to be fun as hell.
Gruesome? Check.
Violent? Check.
Hilarious? Check.
Just a pinch of heart? Check.
Quotable as hell? "I'd offer you my hand, but, well you'd probably keep it."
Fast paced? Check.

I will be keeping a lookout for new work by director Alister Grierson and hope he delivers another gem like this one. This was planned as a trilogy, and I can only hope and pray that he comes through.
