April Apocalypse (2013)

ROM-COM-ZOM lovers unite!

If you loved Shaun of the Dead, Dead and Breakfast, or even Warm Bodies, then you’re going to love this 2013 film that you may have missed. I know we did.

Starring and narrated by Arthur, aka Artie, aka King Arthur in the PM, this movie goes both in expected and unexpected directions throughout. You get some formulaic actions/outcomes but there are plenty of surprises as well.

Artie leads you through a love story that develops between himself and his neighbor April. From childhood to their current age (21), with expected other boyfriends and conflicts as well as unexpected factors, i.e. a zombie apocalypse.

Zombie killers, family conflict, high school cliques, how they transform during an apocalypse. Lots of fun, never boring, and plenty of wit and gore. And George Lopez. What more could you ask for?

SIDE NOTE: Jessie is notoriously anti zombie film, and we’re on a current run of 3 winners in a row, which is going a long way toward removing that stigma for her. Woot woot!
(One Cut of the Dead, April Apocalypse, and Train to Busan.)
